Simon Cowell still buys lotto tickets

Despite his 200 Million pound fortune, X-factor and Syco boss Simon Cowell says he still continues to play the UK National Lottery.

He mentions in one of the UK newspapers, "I still buy lottery tickets.  I still play,.. but I tick the box that says no publicity so no one would know."  In general, unless the amount won is over £50,000, there is usually no box to be ticked.

The UK Lotto makes 750,000 new winners every week and pays out over £1.9 Billion cash prizes yearly.  Players from outside the UK can play international lotteries online and contribute to good causes.

£18M Lottery Winner Spends Nothing and Changes Nothing

Almost everyone dreams of winning the lottery in order to change their lives and live in luxury, but this particular lotto millionaire who bought the winning £18 Million lottery ticket has not had much changes to his lifestyle so far.

Despite winning a big sum of cash that he has kept in the bank, Matthew Breach is still living the same way in his one-bedroom flat, using the same car he has owned prior to winning the UK Lottery.

Mr. Breach celebrated his lottery win and quit his £20,000-a-year job working as a lorry driver for a local builders merchant, and is only applying for a passport prior to booking his holiday.  His win was the biggest single Lotto win in Britain, counting in the Euro Millions draw.

Norway's Eurojackpot to rival Euro Millions?

Norway’s Ministry of Culture has announced that Norsk Tipping, which is owned by the Norwegian government and was founded in 1948 to fund Norwegian sports facilities and scientific research, has been granted approval to provide a new pan-European lottery game, Eurojackpot, which will look to replicate the success of the popular EuroMillions game.

Whether or not the Eurojackpot will be able to surpass the Euro Millions lottery remains to be seen.  To date, the transnational lottery game, Euro Millions is still one of the most famous lotto games in Europe with member countries such as UK, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland, and jackpots growing to as much as €183 Million.

Christchurch Earthquake: Government approves special Lotto draw

Following the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake, the government of New Zealand seeks to find solutions in order to fund community projects and have come up with a special lottery draw for this purpose.

Half of all Lotto sales for this coming week will be donated to help with Christchurch earthquake relief efforts, Internal Affairs Minister Nathan Guy and the New Zealand Lotteries Commission have announced tonight.
“Under section 245 of the Gambling Act 2003, New Zealand Lotteries can promote a ‘Special Purpose Lottery’ for a community purpose. This requires a written direction to the Board from the Minister of Internal Affairs and I have now signed this.
“Given that the core purpose of Lotto is to raise money for the community, the Government has agreed to this move.
“Fifty cents from every dollar spent on Lotto, Lotto Strike and Lotto Powerball next week will be donated to the Christchurch earthquake relief. The March 5 Lotto draw will then take place in the usual way, in accordance with the game rules.
“New Zealand Lotteries have budgeted to raise $155 million for the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board this year, which is used for the benefit of the community. Our advice is that they will still achieve that target, meaning that other community groups will not miss out as a result of this draw,” says Mr Guy.
